What's the role?

The role of a Strategic Procurement Manager is to manage a portfolio of sourcing categories including developing or fine-tuning sourcing strategy for each category as appropriate to reduce transactional work and obtain optimal quality, service, price, and other terms.

Together with stakeholders the role drives and influences sourcing projects along the full procurement cycle to optimize spend and improve total value for Hilti. It involves alignment and planning with internal stakeholders’ strategies to develop long term partnerships and supply strategies with local and regional suppliers. The Strategic Procurement Manager is expected to deliver strategic and operational procurement advice and services.

The Strategic Procurement Managers leads multiple strategic projects and is responsible for coordinating efforts of an entire team to plan and execute strategic project management from bid/quoting phase to execution/fulfillment. He/She is in charge with managing scope of a project to ensure a profitable budget is proposed/presented to the end user, manage execution/fulfillment to complete project within schedule while maintaining budget and overall profitability.

As a Strategic Procurement Manager, you are responsible for the development and implementation of strategic initiatives within an assigned portfolio of indirect sourcing categories. Specific responsibilities include development of category strategies, optimizing spend opportunities, facilitating and leading sourcing projects, supplier negotiation, tactical purchasing, and establishing & maintenance of supplier relationships. You drive the preparation and the execution together with the procurement & business project teams.

You will be Hilti’s single point of contact on business projects. You will lead and coordinate cross-functionally between different departments. As necessary, you will conduct project coordination meetings to evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports, review project specifications/drawings and contract terms and conditions to understand scope of work required; ensure Hilti compliance during execution of work. Define/manage overall project schedule; assign tasks/deadlines to project team as necessary during execution of work and manage overall costs for project to ensure profitability.

What you need is:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in the line of Business, Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering or Finance
  • 5 years’ experience in procurement, project management, supply chain, engineering, finance or in a multinational organization
  • Strategic mind-set with result orientation coupled with strong facilitation & negotiation skills
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to structure clear presentations and to simplify a financial message to non-finance stakeholders
  • Evidence of acting as a strategic partner through influencing and interacting with key stakeholders across a matrix organization
  • Proficient spreadsheet skillset
  • A strong business acumen and visionary mindset balanced by hands-on behavior
  • You bring proactive approach in identifying external trends and acting as change agent while consistently driving to outperform & exceed targets
  • A strong passion for people – actively seeking to develop yourself & others
  • Proven track record in project management, required
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills; must be able to organize all projects, track successes, and bring these successes to the next project
  • Experience using SAP, preferred
